Arthur Schröder
Arthur Schröder (born November 20, 1892 in Groß-Borstel , today in Hamburg , † February 4, 1986 in West Berlin ) was a German actor .
Life
The Bank apprentice began as an extra at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and gave no acting training in 1910 his debut at the Municipal Theater of Harburg in a performance of Don Carlos . As a youthful hero and lover, he played at the Göttingen City Theater from 1912 to 1914, at the Bremen City Theater from 1914/15 and at the Lessing Theater in Berlin from 1915 to 1918 .
From 1918 to 1922 he worked at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, after which he worked at various Berlin theaters such as the Theater am Kurfürstendamm , the Tribüne and the Metropol Theater . His home was the Berlin artists' colony .
During the First World War , Schröder took on tasks in silent films and in 1916 was Asta Nielsen's partner in The Rose of the Wilderness and in The Queen's Love Letter by Henny Porten . After a long film abstinence in the 20s, he was a busy supporting actor during the 30s and 40s. During the time of National Socialism , Schröder was placed on the God-gifted list .
In the meantime in the roles of distinguished older men, he was able to continue his career in Berlin at the Deutsches Theater and then at the Schillertheater and Schlossparktheater after the end of the war . He took on supporting roles in four DEFA strips, including as prison director Dr. Koldewey in Das Beil von Wandsbek and as district court director in Der Untertan . Schröder remained loyal to the stage until he was 80. He also worked for the radio and as a voice actor .
