The Circus Princess is an operetta in three acts by Emmerich Kálmán (1882–1953). The libretto was written by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald . The work had its world premiere on March 26, 1926 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna .

Acts 1 and 2 take place in Saint Petersburg , act three in a hotel in Vienna.
The focus is on a "Mister X" who appears in disguise as a daring circus rider. In reality, he is the disinherited nephew of a deceased prince. He loved the prince's wife without her knowing him. It just happened that the two of them came together. The prince's widow also learns to love "Mister X". But she sees in him a Prince Korosoff, and the two are married before the alleged Korosoff can reveal his identity. The whole thing is an intrigue that a Nebelbuhler engineered. This intriguer has also called the colleagues of "Mister X" to the wedding. The bride is embarrassed because one sees in her the "circus princess". The separation of the lovers is inevitable, but in Vienna you find yourself again. This still popular Kálmán operetta ends with an amusing third act.
