action
Record seller Eva Spanberger found out by mail that she had inherited the Palast Hotel in Sankt Andrä. Spontaneously she quits her job and goes to Sankt Andrä with her best friend Daisy Jordan. On the way they get to know the musicians around Bill Wokulek, who want to take on an engagement at the Grand Hotel in Sankt Andrä. They invite you to come to the palace hotel, which is actually the first building on the square. Arrived at the hotel, the disillusionment follows. The house has been empty for a long time, has run down, without electricity and warm or even running water. In addition, the deceased uncle left debts amounting to 5640 schillings. The old Zacherl Tschurtschentaler stayed behind as caretaker and administrator in the hotel and leads the two women into their room. The next morning the sun is shining and Daisy is delighted with the hotel's view of the lake and the mountain panorama. Bill swam from the Grand Hotel to the Palast Hotel, having seen a group of young women camping on the beach in front of the hotel. He is rescued by them from a supposed distress at sea and we get into a conversation in which Eva and Daisy soon take part. Suddenly the owner of the Grand Hotel, Marianne Holzinger, appears and makes fun of the Palast Hotel. Eva will never be able to use the hotel to pay off the debts she owes to Marianne. She should rather sell the hotel and buy a return ticket with the excess money. Eva defiantly says that she will run the hotel.
She sticks to her opinion when Marianne has disappeared. An elderly couple spontaneously books a room for the next day and so Eva, Daisy and the young campers get involved. During the day they clean the hotel, redecorate, paint and sew and rename the palace hotel to Hotel Paradies. Eva drives into town and buys food and other things to start with. On the way back across the lake, her boat collides with the sailing boat of Marianne Holzinger's son Hans. He was on his way to the hotel to bring a letter from his mother demanding that the debt be repaid within 30 days. Hans helps Eva to fish the goods that have gone overboard from the water and comes to the hotel. Without further ado, he got involved in the renovation of the hotel, as he was taken with Eva. He does not give his mother's letter and only introduces himself by first name.
The opening of the hotel is successful. At the train station, numerous guests of the Grand Hotel can be diverted to the Hotel Paradies. Eva and her colleagues explain the lack of comfort in the hotel with the special orientation. It is a sports hotel that adheres closely to the latest diet and health regulations. Some guests leave early, but many stay. Eva and her colleagues use various tricks to lure more and more guests of the Grand Hotel to the Hotel Paradies. Marianne's unyielding manner also leads to the cook and orchestra being fired. Instead, you come to Hotel Paradies. At a ball, Eva finds out who Hans really is. She doesn't want anything more to do with him, but he stays in the hotel as a paying guest. In this way he can also prevent his mother's intrigue, which Hotel Paradies is now fighting with all means. Marianne finally wants to buy up the hotel's furniture, which still belongs to the city, and thus enforce the forced closure of Hotel Paradies. Hans gets ahead of her, he has long since fallen in love with Eva and wants to prevent harm to her. He buys the furniture, but, unnoticed, Marianne manages to have the furniture removed from the hotel against his will. Eva thinks that Hans was wrong the whole time. She wants to give up now. Hans, in turn, goes to his mother, condemns her for her behavior and reveals to her that he has fallen in love with Eva and wants to marry her. Only now does Marianne give up her resistance. She has them bring furniture back to the hotel. Eva appears and wants to sell her the hotel, but Marianne tells her about the developments in the meantime. Marianne and Eva go to the Hotel Paradies together, where a big party is taking place. Hans and Eva hug each other and Marianne is satisfied.

Ten years later, Antel made two remakes of Eva Erbt das Paradies with Im schwarzen Rößl and in 1972 with Ausser Rand und Band am Wolfgangsee .
The film was shot in the Atelier Salzburg, on Wolfgangsee , on Wallersee , on Mondsee (Hotel Kreuzstein) and in St. Gilgen ( train station ). Eva inherits paradise had its premiere on September 20, 1951 in the Apollo cinema in Vienna. It was shown in German cinemas on October 23, 1951 and was also shown in GDR cinemas from November 12, 1954. German television premiere was on May 14, 1972 on ZDF. criticism
For the film service , Eva inherits paradise was a “modest routine comedy”, while Cinema called the film “snore”. Gertraud Steiner said that today it is difficult to imagine that "such films with their mixture of beautiful landscapes, pretty girls, pop songs and some comedians [...] apparently [corresponded] to the official understanding of how film should be".
