Hans Lang (composer, 1908)
Hans Lang (born July 5, 1908 in Vienna ; † January 28, 1992 ibid) was an Austrian composer of light music and Viennese songs .
Life
Hans Lang attended the Vienna Commercial Academy and studied music with Carl Lafite at the New Vienna Conservatory . Lang was a supervisory board member of Austro-Mechana and vice-president of the cooperative of dramatic authors and composers. He composed the incidental music for around 25 comedies such as Hofrat Geiger , Fiakermilli and The Old Sinner .
He was best known for his film music for many home films from the 1950s such as Lumpacivagabundus , Der Hofrat Geiger , Der alten Sünder , Hallo Dienstmann , Ober, Pay! and The Fiakermilli . In a duet with his partner Maria Andergast , Hans Lang also sang some of his own songs. He wrote the screenplay for the film Haifische der Nachwarszeit (1925) and the operetta Lisa, behave yourself! ( First performance March 21, 1939 Vienna). On many pieces he worked with the lyricist Erich Meder . Many of her Viennese songs became very popular.
Lang also composed folk songs under the pseudonym Lois Wurzinger , such as Abend am Almsee (text: Hanna Maria Drack ) and Der Gamsbock (text: Karl Edelhofer = Erich Meder).
He rests in an honorary grave in the Neustift cemetery . In 1996 the Hans-Lang-Weg in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after him.
