Lies have pretty legs is a set of mistaken identity comedy by Erik Ode from 1956 with Paul Hörbiger , Adrian Hoven , Doris Kirchner , Annie Rosar and Gunther Philipp in the leading roles.

action

When the actor Paul Hörbiger is working on his memoir, his gaze touches the shapely legs of his secretary, which evokes in him the memory of the mistaken comedy Lies have pretty legs . The interesting thing about it is not the plot of the film, he explains to his colleague, but how the film came about.

Three young, very pretty girls share an attic because of financial difficulties: Francis, a hopeful but involuntary actress, Lixie, advertising designer who is currently designing a poster for silk stockings in the hope of being able to sell this design, and Miss Dr. Johanna Eiseler, a young doctor who has just passed her diploma but is without a job. When the three discover an advertisement in the newspaper that they are looking for a ski instructor in Oberirl, Johanna, an excellent skier, applies for the job, but pretends to be her own brother, as a male applicant is expressly requested. Although the beginning was difficult, Johanna got the job as Johann.

When Johanna is out and about in her free time, she meets little Hans who needs her help. With the child Dr. Philip Hackenschuh on. The young doctor quickly realizes that something is wrong with Johanna. Since he keeps his eyes and ears open, he soon suspects what secret Johanna has. Through skillful research he can find out what he wants to know.

When film people suddenly appear in the idyllic landscape to shoot missing scenes for a film in the tranquil natural setting, Simon Daxenberger, the owner of the Hotel "Sonnenhof", rubs his hands and hopes to join the film team under the direction of chaotic director Waldemar Bonislawsky to be able to make ample cash. Annie Rosar and Rudolf Carl are also part of the film team, as is Vera Bella, who is yet to be established as the star of the film. On site, however, it turns out that Vera Bella lied and cannot ski at all. So you have to replace them, and the choice falls on the “ski instructor Johann”. The prop master is certain that he can turn Johann into a pretty woman in no time and thinks it's all just routine. Ultimately, however, Johanna makes sure that her friend Francis gets the role.

For Annie Rosar, the shooting schedule includes a scene in which she is supposed to take a sled down into the valley. The director assures the accomplished actress that nothing could happen if she doesn't want to play the scene at all, and shows her how risk-free it all is. So Annie Rosar gets in, you rehearse, and everything goes well. When the scene is about to be shot, a mishap happens and the sledge starts moving down the mountain without Annie Rosar being able to do anything. After the actress got away with the horror, another problem cannot be solved easily: The phantom film, so to speak, dissolved overnight, whose financiers Piepedanz moved to South America. Then it becomes known that the refugee is the husband of the wealthy vacationer.

However, there is a happy ending for Johanna and Dr. Philip Hackenschuh, who tries to explain to Johanna about her fraud, that he has always known that lies have pretty legs and that she is exactly the right woman for him.
