action

Because his 15-year-old sister Conny jealously disturbs every rendezvous, pop star Fred Carter eventually has enough: He goes on a tour of America and puts his sister in a boarding school in Salzburg , where she is supposed to graduate as an interpreter . A year later Conny celebrates her 16th birthday and Fred wants to visit her at boarding school. However, he wrote her as a prank that he could not come and embarrassed her in front of her friends, who do not believe her that Fred is her brother. Conny, on the other hand, did not tell him that she failed the exam again. Fred should actually go to New York for a gig, but trick his concert agent Gwendolin and fly to Salzburg. He is also happy to have escaped from her because he has promised her marriage, but does not want to get married. On the plane, Fred meets Dave Berry, who once wrote him a few hits. Dave spontaneously decides to accompany Fred to Salzburg. In town they both buy a costume just for fun and Fred even shaves off his beard to be unrecognized. In fact, Conny doesn't even recognize him, who happens to come to the same café. She thinks she is looking at her brother's doppelganger and Fred plays his part well with deep dialect. He introduces himself to her as Franz Wagner and Conny asks him to come to boarding school and pretend to be her brother. In fact, it succeeds in deceiving the friends. When "Fred" is supposed to sing, Conny secretly plays a tape, which one of the girls manipulates. The dizziness is discovered and Fred, Dave and Conny flee. On the way, Conny says that she failed the exam anyway and Fred spontaneously gives up his masquerade, even if Conny had noticed over time that she was dealing with her brother.

On the way to Munich, Fred notices Gwendolin, who happens to be in Salzburg. She also sees Fred and doesn't believe his name is Franz either. She lets Fred's car track and finally joins Fred, Conny and Dave's table in Munich. To convince them of their "authenticity", Fred and Conny sing a Bavarian folk song and Gwendolin is impressed. She offers to sign “Franz” and Conny and let them perform together. Conny is thrilled, Fred has always forbidden her to sing. Now she gathers a band together and meets the supposed law student Walter Spatz, who is actually studying music. Walter is initially snobbish and rejects jazz music, but over time he gets enthusiastic about it. His father is against studying music, but can be quickly changed when Walter finds out about his affair with the mannequin Lilo. In turn, she ultimately falls in love with Dave, who finally finds the right one.

Fred gets tired of the game of hide and seek, especially since he also has to worry about his actual career. However, Gwendolin wants to get back for his trickery and pretends that Fred has long since stopped being popular with women and that she has found a better replacement and a crowd puller in Franz. Fred is now pushing rehearsals for the joint appearance with Conny, hoping to prove to Gwendolin based on the audience reactions that he is still successful. Conny finally learns from Gwendolin that she has long known that Franz is Fred. Because Conny would like to see a relationship between Gwendolin and Fred, they both work together and present Fred with a real doppelganger who pretends to be Fred before his performance. Only when Fred begins to doubt himself does Conny dissolve everything. Fred is relieved and comes singing in front of his audience. While Conny and Walter hug each other behind the stage, Gwendolin unwraps a present in the audience that Fred gave her before his performance - an engagement ring.
