action

To be a great lady for once - that's what the young Jeanette has always dreamed of when she took part in a film company’s young talent competition. A career as a screen star is in prospect, and Jeanette, accompanied by her resolute aunt Elly, firmly believes that she has what it takes. Well, the film people and their friend, the film journalist Stefan Riehl, see it completely differently, and when Jeanette realizes that she will not start a career in front of the camera here and now, she steals her after the director has harassed Sawitzky again during test shoots , in a fit of overreaction, the luxury car required for filming and rushes off the set with Elly, along with an equally stolen mink coat. When she pulls up in front of a luxury hotel in Lugano, Switzerland, she is taken for exactly what she is not: a great lady, the princess of Hohenfels-Zeltingen: if not famous then at least very rich.

The new guests are courted and ensnared according to all the rules of the art, and soon Jeanette has no choice but to continue the role of a princess with Aunt Elly as her maid. The elegant Philipp de Witt also believes this role, but behind his urbane facade only a disdainful criminal heart beats. Together with his “secretary” and fellow crook, Freddy, he has specialized in rich, plundered hotel guests. The wrong princess quickly gets into the crosshairs of the wrong gentleman, who just as quickly finds out that there is absolutely nothing to get from Jeanette. De Witt is pretty sure that the young lady, like himself, must be a con man. Only with the appearance of Stefan, who has loved the charming and beautiful would-be film star for a long time, does Jeanette's permanent misery end. He even manages to market Jeanette's exciting story and get her the first film lead role.
