production

In the black Rößl is a remake of Franz Antel's film Eva inherits the paradise from 1951. It was made immediately after the success of the new operetta adaptation in the white Rößl , which was released in 1960 with Peter Alexander in the leading role. With the film Antel tried to “participate in the success of the 'Weisse Rößl', although there is no contextual connection. Rather, it was a further variation on his usual summer fun games ”.

Antel hired Carl Szokoll as production manager , which resulted in a long-term collaboration. The film was shot in and around St. Wolfgang in the Salzkammergut . In the black Rößl had its premiere on December 22nd, 1961 in Vienna. The film was a great success and marks Antel's successful transition from Heimatfilm to hit film .

In 1963, director Antel made another Rößl film , Im singenden Rößl am Königssee . He filmed the subject of Eva inherits paradise a third time in 1972 in Out of Edge and Band at Wolfgangsee .
