Bruno Huebner (actor)
Bruno Hübner (born August 26, 1899 in Langenbruck ; † December 22, 1983 in Munich ) was a German actor and director who is known in particular from many supporting roles in feature films and television series.
Life
After his discharge from military service in 1919, Bruno Hübner made his acting debut at the “Neue Wiener Bühne” (founder and director Dr. Emil Geyer), where he stayed until 1922. In 1922/23 he had a play contract at the Berlin Lessing Theater . After engagements in Bonn (1926 Bad Godesberg: Das große Welttheater), Karlsruhe, Neuss, Koblenz and Düsseldorf (under General Manager Walter Bruno Iltz ) he returned to Berlin in 1933 and now played at the Volksbühne . From 1934 until the end of the war, Bruno Huebner was part of the ensemble of the Berlin German Theater (director Heinz Hilpert ) and between 1938 and 1944 also made frequent guest appearances at the Vienna Theater in der Josefstadt .
When bombs fell on the roof of the Deutsches Theater in 1944, Hübner, who was on fire watch, saved the house from major damage at the risk of his life.
After the war, Bruno Hübner went to Munich, where he helped shape the Münchner Kammerspiele for several years . He later moved to the Munich Residenztheater for a few years and then worked mainly as a freelancer.
Hübner was a wonderful performer of bizarre roles because of his ability, but also his appearance (tall and ragged - which earned him the nickname "Zitterwurzer" among colleagues). As a director he is best known for plays by the Austrian poets Johann Nestroy and Ferdinand Raimund .
He also worked as a cabaret artist , e.g. B. 1947 for the legendary Munich post-war cabaret Die Schaubude .
Honors
- 1971: Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany
- In 1981 he received the gold film tape for many years of outstanding work in German film.
