When Ludwig starts maneuvering

Ludwig auf Freiersfüßen is the fifth part of the rascal films based on motifs by Ludwig Thoma . The director was Franz Seitz , who also edited the screenplay and appeared as a producer on all Ludwig films. It premiered on December 17, 1969.

action

Kommerzialrat Klausing travels to Bavaria with his wife and daughter Lilly. High school graduate Ludwig is asked to accompany the latter as a mountain guide. On this occasion, Ludwig, who is in love with Lilly, tells her about his numerous pranks, which he also uses in the essay of his German high school. The pranks told are shown in the film as flashbacks of the corresponding scenes from the previous four films in the rascal story series.

Reviews

“In fact, the framework for the new event is more than lean and simple. It is limited to just giving cues for the use of the flashback. ... Such a schnitzel salad defies any critical consideration, because there is neither plot nor dramaturgy, no logic and also no formative direction. "

“A lot of pork sausage folklore and many cliché figures, but all the less desire and love for the thing. The spirit of Ludwig Thomas does not blow. A mean catastrophe by Bavarian standards. "

Others

  • The film is limited to a brief framework and consists mainly of sequences from the previous films.
  • In the opening credits, the film is dedicated to the memory of Rudolf Rhomberg , who died in 1968 and who played the parish priest “Kindlein” in all of the other four rascal films. He can also be seen in several flashbacks.
  • In the farewell scene for high school graduates, these are named alphabetically. One of the high school graduates, the one with the best Abitur, is called Franz Josef Strauss and receives a scholarship from Prince Regent Luitpold. This is an allusion to the Bavarian Prime Minister Franz Josef Strauss , who in 1935 completed the best Abitur in Bavaria since 1910
