Ernst Fritz Fürbringer , usually abbreviated as EF Fürbringer (* July 27, 1900 in Braunschweig , † October 30, 1988 in Munich ), was a German theater and film actor as well as radio play and voice actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Fürbringer became an ensign in the Navy towards the end of the First World War and after the armistice he joined a volunteer corps in the Baltic States . He then completed an apprenticeship as an inspector for agricultural holdings. In Hamburg he came into contact with the theater and took acting lessons. From 1925 to 1935 he was employed at the Hamburger Kammerspiele . He then moved to the Schauspielhaus in Munich, where he also settled with his wife Lizzi Rademacher, with whom he had been married since 1932 and had three children.

Fürbringer made his film debut (apart from the documentary “Wasser hat Balken” from 1933) in 1936. He often embodied distinguished and distinguished gentlemen, as in The Stars Shine (1938), but also types of criminals such as in Titanic from 1943 During the war he played the role of Sir Archibald in several Edgar Wallace films , for example in The Frog with the Mask (1959), The Red Circle (1960) and The Gang of Terror (1960). His role was more serious at the time than the rather parodistic character of the later Sir John , who was portrayed by Siegfried Schürenberg . He also worked in Durbridge films , for example in 1963 in the six-part television play Tim Frazer and in 1968 as a spokesperson for the ZDF four -part adventure series Tom Sawyers and Huckleberry Finns Adventure .

In the 1970s and 1980s, Fürbringer also appeared increasingly in television productions, with a total of around 150 appearances. He was very busy in series such as Derrick , Monaco Franze and demanding television adaptations such as Wallenstein and Martin Luther . He also dubbed well-known actors such as James Stewart , Melvyn Douglas , Rex Harrison , Henry Fonda and, at times, Gregory Peck .

Since the late 1940s, Fürbringer has also worked extensively as a radio play speaker for various German broadcasters, especially in southern Germany. He was mostly one of the main actors, for example alongside Julia Costa and Edith Heerdegen in a radio play adaptation of Agatha Christie's work The Voice from the Grave or in an episode of the 31-part series about the lawyer Gordon Grantley with Kurt Lieck and Irmgard Först (both 1961 ).

In addition to all these activities, Fürbringer continued to be involved in theater stages. He held a teaching position at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich in order to teach young artists the technical skills of the acting profession as well as his own experience.

Ernst Fritz Fürbringer died on October 30, 1988. He was buried anonymously in the forest cemetery in Munich , Neuer Teil, grave field 421.
