Durbridge films

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Durbridge films were based on scripts by the English writer Francis Durbridge (1912-1998), which were later published as novels. The radio plays with René Deltgen and Paul Klinger as Paul Temple as well as the multi-part television adaptations in the 1960s were referred to as " street sweeps ".

In 1962, the cabaret artist Wolfgang Neuss caused a scandal when he betrayed the murderer in the Durbridge thriller Das Halstuch in an advertisement . This even earned him death threats. The Bild newspaper even described Neuss as a traitor to the fatherland . This production was also the most successful.

Albert Lieven was the actor with the most appearances in the Durbridge series of the ARD . He was seen in four film adaptations.

The Paul Temple television series occupies a special position . Durbridge licensed the character to the BBC , which turned the stories into a 52-part television series from 1969, of which 39 episodes were shot in the first international co-production in television history together with ZDF . The main role in the completed individual episodes of the series played the English actor Francis Matthews , the role of his wife Steve Ros Drinkwater .
