Paul Temple and the Marquis Case (Original Title: Paul Temple Returns ) is a British crime film from 1952. It is the fourth and final feature film based on a Paul Temple radio play by Francis Durbridge . The film premiered on November 24, 1952 and was shown in American cinemas under the title Bombay Waterfront.

The master detective Paul Temple is asked by Scotland Yard to help the investigation into the mysterious case of the Marquis murders. Several bodies have already been found, each with a slip of paper with the word 'Marquis' on it. Temple, who is currently in the USA, is supposed to investigate the youngest victim of the mysterious man behind: Rita Cartright. But before he can do this, he receives a threat from the marquis. Back in London, his apartment is also destroyed. A certain Roger Storey goes to Temple and says that in his opinion the renowned archaeologist Sir Felix Raybourne is the Marquis. He was friends with all of the victims. Temple visits the researcher and learns that he brought something dangerous for mankind with him when he was last discovered.

Others
Christopher Lee plays a typical role for him later: a shady character. In contrast to the first three Temple adventures, the film was never dubbed in German and was only given for its German-language DVD release by the Pidax film media Ltd. label. a dubbed version on September 11, 2015. The story is based on the radio play "Paul Temple Intervenes", which Francis Durbridge wrote in 1942 as an eight-part series. In 1944 the novel "Paul Temple Intervenes" was published. Neither a radio play nor a novel has ever been translated into German.
DVD publications
The film was released in English-speaking countries by Renown Pictures in 2009, and in 2015 Pidax will bring a first dubbing onto the market, which includes extensive bonus material (in addition to audio commentary, an interview with Francis Durbridge's son and a Paul Temple short story that has never been translated).
