action

Maria Gebhard works as the chief secretary of Luise Niklas, owner of the large Niklas sawmill. She has been with the boss's son, Hannes, for a long time and they are both planning a vacation in Sweden. Luise knows about the relationship, which both keep secret from her, but is only partially impressed. She hopes for a better match for her son. Due to a planned merger of the sawmill with a furniture factory, Hannes has to cancel his vacation in Sweden. Because Maria also sees him flirting with the furniture manufacturer's daughter and Hannes rushed to negotiate with the manufacturer Wagner and daughter Helga shortly afterwards, Maria joins two colleagues who want to go on vacation to Capri .

Maria doesn't feel like going on vacation and so she plans to go back to Munich at the first stop on the trip in Naples . In Naples she meets the boy Marietto, whom she rescues from a predicament. Marietto shows her Naples and finally persuades her to come along to Capri, where he lives. On Capri the travelers are already expected by a group of men. Shortly beforehand, the Italians used a dice to determine who has a privilege to the most beautiful blonde, brunette and redhead. Although her two colleagues dyed their hair blonde before the trip, Giulio opts for Maria. She's not interested in him and pours a bucket of water over his head when he doesn't want to leave her alone. His friend Roberto promises to avenge him. Maria rejects him time and time again, but soon takes a liking to him. Roberto, on the other hand, no longer sees Maria as a light holiday flirt, but falls in love with her. When he loses sight of his plans for revenge, his friends begin to cut him. But Roberto suddenly forges marriage plans and wants to introduce Maria to his family. She hastily flees back to Munich. Hannes has also returned prematurely from his work meeting with the Wagner family. Although he fell in love with Helga, he realized that Maria is the right woman for him. Now he proposes to Maria and thus also turns against his mother.

Maria is happy about the engagement, but after a while Hannes confesses that she fell in love with Roberto on Capri. Hannes forgives her. One day Roberto stands in front of Maria. He came to Munich as a guest worker and will stay for at least half a year. Maria is desperate and makes it clear to him that she is no longer free. When she later offers him money so that he can return to Capri, Roberto angrily goes to her. It is the day of Mary's wedding. Beside himself with anger, he rushes at Maria, who is standing in front of him in her wedding dress, and stabs her several times. Some time later, Maria is seen in a hospital. Her condition has improved significantly. Hannes comes to visit her with roses. He calms her down because she worries that Roberto will be convicted even though it was all her fault. Hannes realizes that everything will be fine.
