Hanns H. Kuhnert (born April 4, 1901 in Berlin ; † July 29, 1974 there ) was a German film architect and film salesman.

Live and act

The son of the artistic director Hans Wilhelm Kuhnert (born 1874) attended school until Obersekunda and completed a commercial apprenticeship and business school in his home town of Berlin. He then also worked as a businessman . After training in graphics, Kuhnert switched to the theater, where he was employed as a stage designer .

Apart from a single work for the cinema in 1930, Kuhnert did not finally turn to film until four years later. He moved to Munich and mainly set up producer Peter Ostermayr's home films . From 1940 he designed the sets for the core companies of the Third Reich, UFA , Tobis , Berlin-Film and Munich's Bavaria . After the end of the war, Kuhnert initially found it difficult to get into the film business. As a film salesman, he founded his own company, HKM-Film GmbH, and began designing film structures again from 1952, initially for some US productions shot in Germany. His main employers for the next ten years were the (West) Berlin production companies Artur Brauners and Kurt Ulrichs .

1963, after working on a Dr. Mabuse film, Kuhnert retired from film work. Kuhnert, who had residences in Berlin and Upper Bavaria , had a child.
