action

Peter, Paul and Heinz have been close friends since they were young; The first two are treated by Heinzen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Liebitz, almost like their own children. One day a terrible accident occurs during a regatta : Heinz falls into the water and drowns. Despite this terrible event, the bond between father and mother Liebitz and Paul and Peter is strengthened. The old Liebitz owns a production facility for the construction of musical instruments, and since Heinz will no longer be able to take over the company one day, as originally planned, Franz Liebitz fell on the idea that instead of his Peter and Paul, the business should be run from now on. The two young men receive instruction in instrument making, but do not want to become dependent and decide to earn their living by repairing instruments or as a music teacher.

Spring has come and the two men are planning to plant flowers on their balcony. While shopping for plants, Peter meets the young Eva Aderholz, whom he likes very much. In his infatuation he tries to hook up with the woman, but catches a basket. Nevertheless, he claims to Paul that he is practically engaged to her. Eva soon meets Paul too, and Peter mistakenly believes that Paul brought Eva into their apartment for his sake. He too seems interested in the girl. On the coming Sunday, the two applicants for Eva's favor prefer to go to a soccer game and leave Eva by the wayside. But she has long since caught a much more interesting guy. His name is Otto Karnewaldt and lives on the second floor of the apartment building. Otto and Eva finally get together, and the two who stayed behind consoled each other with two twins, one with a mole, the other without.
