Albert Andreas Hermann Walter Matterstock (born September 13, 1911 in Leipzig ; † June 29 or 30 (?) June 1960 in Hamburg ) was a German actor who appeared in almost 30 German feature films from 1937 - mostly of an entertaining kind.

Life

The son of a businessman took acting lessons from Leontine Sagan in Berlin . He made his debut at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm and was soon known as a performer of elegant bon vivants.

Matterstock was also given corresponding roles in the film. He was a pilot ( Ziel in den Wolken , 1938), a racing driver ( Lauter Lügen , 1938), a whole guy (1939, with Heidemarie Hatheyer ), a teacher ( Unser Fräulein Doktor , 1940, with Jenny Jugo ) or a composer ( A waltz with you , 1942) and always a gallant lover. In 1939 he married the actress Jutta Freybe for the third time .

In post-war Germany, he was unable to build on his film successes. Matterstock's acting activity was now largely confined to the theater, and he made negative headlines for his addiction to morphine. In 1955 he got his fourth marriage with the Frankfurt businesswoman Margot Rauh. He died as a result of his drug and drug addiction. His grave in the main cemetery in Würzburg has since been closed.
