action

Germany in 1909: First Lieutenant Walter von Suhr is pursuing a career in the military and is about to marry Tilde von Grävenitz, the daughter of the district president of Potsdam. When visiting the First International Flight Week in Johannisthal , Walter is enthusiastic about aviation and wants to become a pilot himself. He sees the future in aviation, especially for the military. He is denied special leave for pilot training. He therefore quits his military service in order to develop a reliable combat aircraft together with the locksmith Ewald Menzel. Neither his parents nor those of his bride are enthusiastic about these plans. However, his bride Tilde sticks to him.

At the Johannisthal airfield , he has to deal with competitors and find financial backers. A good friend has a fatal accident. But in the end, von Suhr can prove his skills.
