Philipp Lothar Mayring , also Philip Lothar Mayring (born September 19, 1879 in Würzburg , † July 6, 1948 in Leipzig ) was a German actor , director and screenwriter .

Life

Mayring graduated from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich in 1898 and appeared in Heidelberg for the first time as an actor that same year . In Görlitz , Augsburg and Munich he embodied important theater characters like Franz Moor in The Robbers , the title characters of Faust , Othello , Cyrano de Bergerac and Orestes .

Mayring also worked early on as a theater director and film director . In the thirties he found his main job in writing screenplays. He was active in a wide variety of film genres such as homeland films , film comedies and melodramas . Several times he also took over the direction, as in the propaganda film Blood Brotherhood . Shortly before the end of the war, he was placed on the so-called " God-Favored List ".

After the war, Mayring worked for the Leipzig radio station.
