Sully County is a district in the state of South Dakota in the United States . The county seat is in Onida .

geography

The county covers an area of ​​2,772 square kilometers. Of this, 2,608 km² is land and 164 km² (5.93%) is water. It is divided into two disorganized territories: West Sully and East Sully. It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Potter County , Hyde County , Hughes County , Stanley County, and Dewey County .

history

The county was incorporated on January 8, 1873 and the administrative organization was completed on April 19, 1883. It was after the officer Alfred Sully designated to the American Civil War in the Union Army served.

Four buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of August 9, 2018).
