Todd County is a district in the state of South Dakota in the United States . The county is one of two counties in South Dakota that do not have an official county seat . Todd County's administration is located in Winner , in neighboring Tripp County .

The county covers an area of ​​3,602 square kilometers. 7 square kilometers (0.20 percent) of this is water. The county is divided into two disorganized territories: West Todd and East Todd. The county is within the Rosebud Reservation . The majority of this reservation is in Todd County, with other parts in four other counties.

history

Todd County was founded in 1909, previously there was another district of the name in South Dakota further east on the Missouri River . The district was by John Blair Smith Todd , a delegate of the Dakota Territory in the United States House of Representatives and a general in the American Civil War , named.

The St. Francis Mission is one of three entries for the county in the NRHP.

Three buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of August 9, 2018).
