Corson County is a county in northern South Dakota , United States . It has 4181 inhabitants. The county seat is in McIntosh .

geography

The district has an area of ​​6551 square kilometers; 146 square kilometers (2.23 percent) of this is water. It is divided into 11 townships: Custer, Delaney, Lake, Mission, Pleasant Ridge, Prairie View, Ridgeland, Rolling Green, Sherman, Wakpala and Watauga; and four disorganized territories: Central Corson, Lemmon No. 2, Northeast Corson and West Corson.

history

The county was founded on March 2, 1909 and named after Dighton Corson , a judge on the South Dakota Supreme Court .

The Sitting Bull Monument is one of eight entries for the county in the NRHP.

Eight structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 30, 2018).
