Kingsbury County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States .

The county covers an area of ​​2237 square kilometers. 66 square kilometers (2.93 percent) of this is water. It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Hamlin County , Brookings County , Lake County , Beadle County, and Clark County

history

The county was incorporated on January 8, 1873, and its administrative organization was completed on February 18, 1880. It was named after the brothers George Washington (1837-1925) and T. A. Kingsbury. George Washington was the company's founder, author, and a member of the Dakota Territory Legislative Assembly , which included his brother.

The Ingalls House is one of 20 entries in the county NRHP.
