Spink County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States .

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county had an area of ​​3911 square kilometers; 16 square kilometers (0.41 percent) of this is water. The county is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Brown County (north), Day County (northeast), Clark County (east), Beadle County (south), Hand County (southwest), and Faulk County (west).

history

The county was incorporated on January 8, 1873, and its administrative organization was completed on August 1, 1879. It was named after the politician Solomon L. Spink , who was the delegate for the Dakota Territory in the United States House of Representatives .
