Harding County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States .

The district has an area of ​​6935 square kilometers; of which 18 square kilometers (0.26 percent) are water.

history

The county was formed on March 5, 1881 and dissolved on November 8, 1898. On November 3, 1908, it was re-established and the administrative organization was completed on January 30, 1911. It was named after John A. Harding, a miner and orator in the Dakota Territory Legislative Assembly when the county was first formed in 1881.

The Golden Valley Norwegian Lutheran Church is one of 56 entries for the county in the NRHP.
