Jerauld County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States . The population was still 2295 in 2000, this had decreased to 2071 by 2010. The county seat is in Wessington Springs .

The county covers an area of 1,380 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers (0.51 percent) are water. It is divided into 14 townships - Alpena, Anina, Blaine, Chery, Crow, Crow Lake, Franklin, Harmony, Logan, Marlar, Media, Pleasant, Viola, and Wessington Springs - or a disorganized Dale territory . Jerauld County is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Beadle County , Sanborn County , Arora County , Brule County , Buffalo County, and Hand County .

The county was established on March 9, 1883 and named after H. A. Jerauld, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Dakota Territory .
