Custer County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States . The county has 8,216 people. The county seat is Custer .
geography
The district has an area of 4038 square kilometers; 4 square kilometers (0.09 percent) of it is water. It is divided into two disorganized territories: East of Custer State Park and West of Custer State Park Custer.
history
The county was formed on January 11, 1875 and the administrative organization was completed on April 26, 1877. The county was named after General George Armstrong Custer (1839–1876).
