Fall River County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States .
geography
The district has an area of 1,749 square kilometers, of which 24 km² (0.53%) are water. It is divided into three townships: Argentine, Provo and Robins; and two disorganized territories: Northeast Fall River and Southwest Fall River.
history
The county was founded on April 3, 1883 and named after the waterfalls and rapids in the area, the name being taken from the Sioux language .
One place in the county has the status of a National Historic Landmark , the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers . 72 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 31, 2018).
