history

The county was formed on February 22, 1879, and administration was finally organized on September 14, 1880. It was named after Alfred Brown (1836-1919), a member of the Dakota Territory Legislative Assembly .

The Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church is one of 44 entries for the county in the NRHP.
