Clark County is a district in the state of South Dakota in the United States . It has 4,143 inhabitants. The county seat is Clark .

The county covers an area of ​​2,507 square kilometers; 26 square kilometers (1.02 percent) of it is water.

history

The county was established on January 18, 1873, and administration was finally organized on May 2, 1881. It was named after Newton Clark, the first school teacher in Sioux Falls and a member of the Dakota Territory Legislative Assembly .

The Gov. SH Elrod House is one of nine entries for the county in the NRHP.

Nine structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 30, 2018).
