In 1806/7 only a few regiments escaped surrender. This list shows the names 1808 and up to 1914.

Army expansion after the German War and the founding of the North German Confederation

After the end of the German War of 1866, new regiments were established from the military of the annexed states of Hanover , Kurhessen and Nassau . Furthermore, after the conclusion of appropriate military conventions, the associations of the North German and Thuringian small states were integrated into the Prussian Army.

Reorganization of the army in the North German Confederation

The War Ministry of the North German Confederation reorganized the army with the significant participation of Theophil von Podbielski . The expansion of the army was followed by a cabinet order of December 7, 1867, the renaming of numerous units in the North German Confederation as shown below.
