The Infantry Regiment "Horn" (3rd Rhenish) No. 29 was an infantry joined the Prussian army .

history

The association was established on December 5, 1813 from the 2nd Bergische Infantry Regiment and on March 25, 1815 (Foundation Day), it was incorporated into the Prussian Army as the 29th Infantry Regiment. On June 4, 1860, it received its country team name and from that point on it was named 3rd Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 29. On January 27, 1889, Kaiser Wilhelm II ordered the association to be established in memory of Lieutenant General Heinrich Wilhelm von Horn is to be named.

First World War

When the First World War broke out , the regiment mobilized on August 2, 1914 as part of the 31st Infantry Brigade of the 16th Division. It took part in the fighting on the western and eastern fronts:

3540 soldiers of the regiment died during the war.

Whereabouts

After the end of the war, the regiment was demobilized in Leer on December 14, 1918 and disbanded on May 1, 1919.

The tradition in the Reichswehr was adopted by the 15th Company of the 16th Infantry Regiment in Osnabrück by decree of the Chief of the Army Command, General of the Infantry Hans von Seeckt , on August 24, 1921 .

The colorful skirt had red Brandenburg cuffs, blue shoulder pieces with red numerals and a yellow line eagle.

Flags

After the campaign of 1815 the regiment of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. the regimental flag with the ribbon of the war commemorative coin 1815. On April 14th, 1816 the ceremonial nailing and handing over of the flags to the regiment by the commanding general Graf Gneisenau took place in Koblenz .

In January 1861, the Füselier battalion received the ribbon of the military badge of honor with swords from King Wilhelm I for its participation in the Baden campaign . For the campaign in 1866 the regimental flags received the combatant ribbon of the memorial cross with swords donated for this war and the iron cross on the flag tips for the war of 1870/71.

Flag ribbons were also awarded to celebrate the turn of the century. In 1905 the regimental flags were given a new flag. On August 27, the ceremonial nailing took place in Berlin in the presence of the emperor, on the occasion of the emperor's parade in Koblenz, on September 11, 1905, the emperor presented the regimental commander with the renewed flags.
