The first top-Alsatian Infantry Regiment. 167 was an infantry joined the Prussian army .
history
The association was founded on March 31, 1897 as Infantry Regiment No. 167 from the 4th Battalion of the Infantry Regiment "Grand Duke of Saxony" (5th Thuringian) No. 94 , the 1st Battalion of the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. .95 and the 2nd Battalion of the Infantry Regiment "von Wittich" (3rd Kurhessisches) No. 83 . The garrison was in Kassel , the III. Battalion was stationed in Mühlhausen / Thuringia .
Together with the 2nd Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 32 , it formed the 44th Infantry Brigade belonging to the 22nd Division .
On January 27, 1902, Wilhelm II issued the army order that the associations, which had not yet been given a rural name, were given a name extension in order to better distinguish between them and to establish tradition. From this point on, the regiment was known as the 1st Upper Alsatian Infantry Regiment No. 167.
On October 1, 1912, the regiment received an MG company.
First World War
The regiment made on August 2, 1914 mobile and advanced to the Western Front . After heavy losses at Sancourt, the 1st and 2nd battalions were disbanded on September 29 and reorganized on October 4, 1918. On November 1, 1918, parts of the III. Battalion of the disbanded Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 83. Three days later, the regiment was almost completely captured near Quesnoy. Shortly before the end of the war, three new companies were set up on November 10, 1918 .
Whereabouts
After the end of the war , the remnants of the association returned to their garrisons. There they were demobilized from November 27, 1918 and the regiment was finally disbanded.
The tradition in the Reichswehr was adopted by the 13th Company of the 15th Infantry Regiment in Kassel by decree of the Chief of the Army Command, General of the Infantry Hans von Seeckt .
