Emil von Glisczynski

Karl Emil von Glisczynski (born December 26, 1804 in Wesel , † October 14, 1885 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Emil was a son of Georg Ernst von Glisczinski (1757-1827) and his wife Sophie Juliane, née von Goldbeck (1770-1814). His father was a Prussian captain a. D. and was awarded the order Pour le Mérite during the First Coalition War on the Rhine . In the Fourth Coalition War he was seriously wounded near Lübeck in 1806 and then retired to his Gut Gustow. The Lieutenant General Hans August von Glisczinski (1803-1886) was his brother.

Military career

Glisczynski visited the Berlin Cadet House and on October 13, 1822 was transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as Portepeefähnrich. He advanced to secondary lieutenant in mid-April 1823 and graduated from the General War School in 1826/29 for further training . From 1830 to 1835 Glisczynski worked as a teacher at the division school of the 14th Division , became prime lieutenant in mid-January 1835 and from 1836 to 1839 he was assigned to the topographic office . On July 20, 1843 he was promoted to captain and company commander . Then he was on January 25, 1850 with the leadership of the III. Battalion in the 16th Landwehr Regiment in Meschede and on April 25, 1850 promoted to major to battalion commander. On the occasion of the constitutional conflict, Glisczynski and his battalion took part in the occupation of Kurhessen from November 20, 1850 to February 3, 1851 in order to restore the old order. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel , he returned to his regular regiment on January 26, 1856 as commander of the fusilier battalion.

With a position à la suite , Glisczynski was commissioned on June 26, 1858, initially to lead the 29th Infantry Regiment in Trier, and on November 28, 1838, he was appointed as a colonel as regimental commander. As such, he received the Order of the Red Eagle III on October 3, 1859 . Class with a bow. On October 18, 1861 he was promoted to major general to officers of the army and on March 11, 1862 appointed commander of the 18th Infantry Brigade . In the same capacity, he was transferred to the 6th Infantry Brigade on January 9, 1864 . During the Polish riots , from January 9th to July 9th, 1864, he was in command of the border guard in the Bydgoszcz administrative district . Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Glisczynski received his on August 9, 1864 farewell with board .

During the German War he was reused and from June 22 to September 15, 1866 he was used as the commandant of Leipzig . He died in Potsdam on October 14, 1885.

family

Glisczynski married on May 28, 1839 in Iserlohn Wilhelmine Anna Maria Graeff (1815–1880), a daughter of the rentier Johann Wilhelm Graeff from Düsseldorf. The couple had several children:
