Theobald Louis Abraham Graf zu Dohna -Schlodien (born November 19, 1811 in Mallmitz , † May 28, 1875 in Liegnitz ) was a Prussian major general .

Theobald was a son of the landscape director of the principalities of Glogau and Sagan Fabian Graf zu Dohna (1777-1839) and his second wife Amalie, née Countess von Reichenbach-Goschütz (1784-1849). The Lieutenant General Emil (1805-1877) was his brother, Alfred (1809-1859), another brother, was politician and member of the Prussian House of Lords and the youngest brother Adalbert (1816-1889) became a major general in the Prussian army .

Career

Dohna came to Berlin as a cadet on April 1, 1827 , where he lived as a pensioner. On April 1, 1829 he returned home and on April 15, 1829 he joined the 1st and 2nd Rifle Division of the Prussian Army. There he was on September 11, 1830 Portepeefähnrich , on February 12, 1831 superfluous secondary lieutenant and on December 6, 1832 assigned. On January 19, 1847, he was transferred to the 6th Jäger Department as Prime Lieutenant . In the Polish riots of 1848 he fought in the battle near Adelnau and received the Red Eagle Order IV class on April 22, 1848 . On November 21, 1848 Dohna was promoted to captain and company commander .

When he was promoted to major on June 21, 1856, he was transferred to the 30th Infantry Regiment . This was followed from May 16, 1857 as a commander of the 3rd Jäger Battalion . On June 14, 1859, Dohna was initially assigned to lead the Guard Jäger battalion, and on July 1, 1860, he was appointed commander of this battalion. In this position promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 18, 1861 , he was transferred to the 29th Infantry Regiment as commander on January 18, 1861 . He received the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 14, 1862. Class with a bow and swords on the rings. On January 29, 1863 Dohna was appointed inspector of the hunters and riflemen , also charged with the management of the chief of the Reitende Feldjägerkorps , as well as à la suite of the guard hunter battalion and promoted to colonel on March 17, 1863 . On June 11, 1864, he received the Order of St. Anne II Class. During the German War in 1866 he was in the main headquarters .

After the war, Dohna was promoted to major general on September 20, 1866. As such, he was in command of the 5th Infantry Brigade from January 13 to May 4, 1868, and was then put up for disposal with a pension . He died in Liegnitz on May 28, 1875.

His department commander wrote in his assessment in 1847: “A morally good, very decent, highly efficient and useful officer, of very pleasant sociable forms, who, although without significant scientific knowledge, is to be counted among the best officers in every respect. He is full of zeal for his weapon, promises to be a very capable company boss, which is why he is suitable for an extraordinary promotion. "

He married on January 22, 1838 in Breslau Ida von Gayette (1815-1893), a daughter of Major General Karl Ludwig von Gayette . The couple had several children:
