Wilhelm Ludwig Adalbert Graf zu Dohna (born July 15, 1816 in Mallmitz , † January 20, 1889 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 26th Infantry Brigade .

Adalbert was a son of Count Fabian zu Dohna (1777-1839) and his wife Amalie, née Countess von Reichenbach-Goschütz (1784-1849). His brother Emil (1805–1877) became lieutenant general, his brother Theobald (1811–1875) major general. Alfred (1809–1859), another brother, was a politician and a member of the Prussian manor house

Military career

Dohna visited the Berlin Cadet House and was then transferred on August 15, 1833 as a non-commissioned officer to the 2nd Rifle Division of the Prussian Army . He was promoted to secondary lieutenant by the beginning of June 1837 and at the end of November 1848 rose to prime lieutenant in the 6th Jäger Battalion , which had been formed from his previous unit. After his promotion to captain , Dohna became company commander in mid-July 1853 and in this capacity was transferred to the 1st Jäger Battalion in Braunsberg on March 27, 1858 with a patent from June 22, 1852 . This was followed from July 1, 1860 to February 9, 1863 as a major in the staff of the 2nd Silesian Grenadier Regiment No. 11 in Breslau. Then Dohna was appointed commander of the 2nd Silesian Jäger Battalion No. 6 and promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-June 1865 . In the war against Austria he led his association in the battle of Königgrätz in 1866 . For his work he was awarded the Crown Order III at the end of September 1866 . Class with swords.

He was promoted to colonel on October 30, 1866 and was transferred to Neuruppin as commander of the 4th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 24 . After the beginning of the war against France , Dohna was wounded in the Battle of Vionville . He took part in the battles at Gravelotte and Le Mans , the siege of Metz and the battles at Azay, Espereuse, the Braye and Changé.
