The Deuel County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State South Dakota . In 2010 , the county had 4,364 residents and a population density of 2.7 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Clear Lake .

history
Deuel County was founded on April 5, 1862. The administrative organization was completed on May 20, 1878. The county was named after Jacob Smith Deuel (1830-1898), who ran a sawmill in the area of the later counties since 1860 and sat until 1863 in the legislative assembly of the Dakota Territory . The first county seat was Gary before the administration moved to Clear Lake.
Ten structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 31, 2018).
Population development
According to the 2010 census , Deuel County had 4,364 people in 1,800 households. The population density was 2.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.4 people lived in each of the 1,800 households.
The racial the population was composed of 97.8 percent white, 0.9 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.6 percent of the population regardless of ethnicity.
23.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 57.0 percent were between 18 and 64 and 20.0 percent were 65 years or older. 48.2 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was 46,186 USD . The per capita income was $ 24,518. 5.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
