On the southern edge of the urban area of Clear Lake, the South Dakota Highway 15, which runs through the city center as the main road in a north-south direction, crosses South Dakota Highway 22 . All other roads are subordinate country roads, some unpaved roads and inner-city connecting roads.
With the Clear Lake Municipal Airport there is a small airfield on the northern outskirts. The nearest major airports are the Sioux Falls Regional Airport (144 km south-southeast), the Hector International Airport in Fargo (271 km north) and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (298 km east).
