The county is located in southwest Minnesota, borders South Dakota to the west and has an area of ​​2015 square kilometers, of which 34 square kilometers are water.

history

The Lac qui Parle County was formed on November 7, 1871 from parts of Redwood County. The name comes from French and means "lake that speaks". There is a lake of the same name in the county, the Dakota name of which has been translated into French.

Nine structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of January 29, 2018).
