The Douglas County is a County of the Midwest US -amerikanischen state of Minnesota . In 2010 , the county had 36,009 people and a population density of 21.9 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Alexandria , named after Alexander Kinkaid , an early settler in the area.

Douglas County was formed on March 2, 1858 from parts of Cass County and the defunct Pembina County. It was named after Stephen Arnold Douglas (1813–1861), a US politician and presidential candidate.
A total of 14 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of January 28, 2018).
Demographic data
As of the 2010 census , Douglas County had 36,009 people in 16,222 households. The population density was 21.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.18 people lived in each of the 16,222 households.
The racial the population was composed of 97.7 percent white, 0.5 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.9 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.0 percent of the population.
21.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 58.5 percent were between 18 and 64 and 20.0 percent were 65 years or older. 49.9 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was 48,436 USD . The per capita income was $ 26,301. 11.0 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
