The Becker County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . In 2010 , the county had 32,504 residents and a population density of 9.6 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Detroit Lakes , named after its location on Detroit Lake .
geography
The county is located in central northwest Minnesota and about 45 km to the west from North Dakota . It has an area of 3743 square kilometers, of which 349 square kilometers are water surface.
The county is traversed by the Otter Tail River , one of the two headwaters of the Red River of the North .

history
Becker County was formed on March 18, 1858 from parts of Cass County. It was named after the lawyer and politician George Loomis Becker , a railway commissioner.
Seven places in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of January 28, 2018.
