Faulk County is a county in the state of South Dakota in the United States . It has 2640 inhabitants. The county seat is Faulkton .

The district has an area of ​​2605 square kilometers; 14 square kilometers (0.55 percent) of this is water. It is divided into 23 townships : Arcade, Bryant, Centerville, Clark, Devoe, Ellisville, Emerson, Enterprise, Fairview, Freedom, Hillsdale, Irving, Lafoon, Myron, O'Neil, Orient, Pioneer, Saratoga, Sherman, Tamworth, Union , Wesley and Zell; and three disorganized territories: Pulaski and Southwest Faulk.

history

The county was incorporated on January 8, 1873, and its administrative organization was completed on November 5, 1883. It was named after the politician Andrew Jackson Faulk , who was among other things governor of the Dakota Territory .

The Gov. Frank M. Byrne House is one of the county's nine entries in the NRHP.

Nine structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 31, 2018).
