During the 2006/07 winter break, inquiries for Švento came from Germany, France, Spain and England. Slavia Prague set the transfer requirement at around 100 million crowns, about 3.5 million euros, but he stayed with Slavia and celebrated the championship title in the Gambrinus League with the red-whites in 2007/08 and 2008/09 .

For the 2009/10 season, Švento moved to Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg , where he became a regular player straight away. In his first season he was Austrian champion with Salzburg. Due to the protracted injury to Andreas Ulmer , he was also used as a left-back by coach Moniz in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. In the UEFA Europa League group stage, he scored the goal to make it 2-0 in the 94th minute in the home game against Paris Saint-Germain . This allowed Salzburg to advance to the knockout phase of the Euro League on its own, which was also successful.

In the 2012/13 season, Švento was seriously injured in the disgrace in Dudelange , he suffered a torn cruciate and collateral ligament and was out most of the season. He was also absent from the start of the 2013/14 season because he tore a ligament in his ankle.

For the 2014/15 season , Švento moved to the German Bundesliga for 1. FC Köln . He received a contract there until June 30, 2017. On October 18, he made his Bundesliga debut in a 2-1 win at home against Borussia Dortmund . On December 12, 2015, the 16th matchday of the 2015/16 season, he scored his first Bundesliga goal against SV Werder Bremen to make it 1-1.

He ended his career with Slavia Prague in 2017 .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Slovak squad. In the first game against Wales he was still in the starting line-up, in the other two group games against Russia and England he was only used as a substitute. In the last sixteen against Germany, which brought the tournament out for the team, he stayed on the bench.
