The Austrian football championship was held for the 102nd time in 2013/14 . The top division is the Austrian Bundesliga , which was held for the 40th time this season and was contested by ten teams. In four rounds, these determined the Austrian soccer champions and the representatives of Austria in the international competitions of the 2014/15 season. The second highest division is the first division , which was held for the 39th time in 2013/14.
Licensing process
On April 30, 2013, the Bundesliga awarded the licenses for the 2013/14 championship. Only 18 of the 24 clubs that applied for a license were granted one. The Bundesliga clubs Admira Wacker Mödling and Wacker Innsbruck , the first division clubs Vienna and Hartberg and the regional league clubs LASK Linz and Austria Salzburg were refused licenses. First division team SKN St. Pölten received the license under financial conditions. The FC Lustenau , which had to be relegated from the first division due to multiple violations of the licensing procedure, did not apply for the license.
All six clubs that had been denied licenses in the first instance filed a complaint with the Bundesliga protest committee. The Hartbergers' protest was granted; also the protests of Admira Wacker, Wacker Innsbruck and Vienna, the latter only under financial conditions. In addition, five points will be deducted from Vienna for violations of the license terms and conditions for the 2013/14 season. LASK, which had to relegate to the regional league in the previous year because of not being granted a license, also received the license in the second instance. A decision on possible financial conditions will only be made in the event of the Linzer's rise. Salzburg Austria was also refused the license in the second instance.
First performance level - Bundesliga
Bundesliga clubs 2013/14 |
The Bundesliga, supported by sports betting provider tipp3 as the main sponsor, is the top division in Austrian football and will be held for the 40th time in the 2013/14 season and will determine the 102nd Austrian football champions. The sub-sponsor is the mobile operator T-Mobile Austria , which is why the official league name is tipp3-Bundesliga powered by T-Mobile .
Lower Austria, Salzburg and Vienna each have two clubs, Carinthia, Upper Austria, Styria and Tyrol one each. Burgenland and Vorarlberg are not represented by any team in Austria's top division. In the previous season, SV Mattersburg was relegated to the first division, and SV Grödig was added .
The TV provider sky Deutschland AG has the rights to show all Bundesliga games in full length that are broadcast on pay TV on the sky sport austria channel. The broadcaster will not only show all games in conference call, but also as individual games. In addition, the ORF has the rights to broadcast the “top game of the round” as a single game - mostly on Sundays, in the case of weekday rounds on Wednesdays. This rule does not apply to the last two rounds in which all games must be played at the same time. In addition, the ORF is allowed to show a 45-minute summary of the remaining four games per round.
mode
In the 2013/14 season, as in previous years, ten clubs will compete against each other in a total of 36 rounds. Each team plays twice at home and twice against every other team.
Due to the poor European Cup results of the Austrian teams in the 2012/2013 season, Austria fell back to 16th place in the UEFA five-year ranking at the end of this season . Thus, in the 2013/14 season, only one starting place for the Champions League and three starting places for the Europa League will be played out over the Bundesliga and Cup. The champions of the Bundesliga are entitled to participate in the qualification for the UEFA Champions League and, depending on whether the defending champion's place is needed, they start in the 2nd or 3rd qualifying round; the clubs placed second and third play in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League and enter in the second round. The cup winner takes part in the 3rd qualifying round for the Europa League.
The last placed in the top division, the Bundesliga, must be relegated to the second-class first division.

Second performance level - First League
Clubs of the First League 2013/14 |
The first league is the second highest division in Austrian professional football and will be played for the 39th time in the 2013/14 season. The Bundesliga relegated SV Mattersburg and the two relegation winners SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 and FC Liefering joined the league . Parndorf prevailed as champions of the Regionalliga Ost against the tenth of the first league season 2012/13, the FC Blau-Weiß Linz , while Liefering, as champions of the Regionalliga West, eliminated the Regionalliga-Mitte champions LASK Linz . The FC Lustenau 07 when Fixabsteiger the preseason, playing this season in the second siebentklassigen Vorarlbergs class.
In the 2013/14 season, Burgenland, Lower Austria, Styria and Vorarlberg each have two clubs. There is also a club from Salzburg and Vienna. Upper Austria, Carinthia and Tyrol are not represented.
As in the Bundesliga, the TV rights belong to the broadcaster sky Deutschland AG , which is allowed to show every game in full. The broadcast takes place on the pay TV channel sky sport austria and as part of a conference call of four games with the game starting at 6:30 p.m. Exception: the last two rounds, in which all games must be played at the same time. Sky can also choose a game that will be broadcast as the "top game of the round" as a single game on Friday at 8:30 pm. The ORF also has the right to broadcast the top game of the round live and in full. This is done via the ORF Sport Plus channel .
mode
In the 2013/14 season, as in previous years, ten clubs will compete in a total of 36 rounds. Each team plays twice at home and twice away against every other team.
The league champion is promoted to the Bundesliga . The last placed must be relegated to the regional league corresponding to his region . This will be replaced by the winner of the two qualifying games between the champions of the Regionalliga Ost and the champions of the Regionalliga West. The table penultimate has to play two relegation games against the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte. The winners of the relegation games are qualified for the First League 2014/15.

Third level - regional leagues
mode
The regional leagues east, west and middle form the third level in Austrian football. The Regionalliga Ost is formed by the clubs of the Vienna , Lower Austria and Burgenland Football Associations. The Regionalliga Mitte is made up of clubs from the Upper Austrian , Carinthian and Styrian football associations. The Regionalliga West is made up of clubs from the Salzburg , Tyrol and Vorarlberg football associations.
In each of these three leagues, one relegation place for the first division is played; A license from Senate 5 of the Bundesliga is a prerequisite for any promotion. Second teams are not allowed to be promoted. A changing mode of the relegation games was agreed for the regional league teams.
The number of relegated teams is basically three per regional league. However, this can change if, on the one hand, the master does not advance to the first division or if the relegation ranks are influenced by the classification of the relegated teams. In any case, the last two places have to leave the league.

Relegation
Relegation to the first division
As ninth place in the previous first league season, SC-ESV Parndorf took part in the relegation in 1919, as in the previous year, when they were able to qualify for the second highest division as champions of the Regionalliga Ost with wins against Blau-Weiß Linz . The opponent was again a traditional Linz club, this time LASK , who achieved relegation as champions of the Middle Regional League. Like Parndorf, Linz also took part in the relegation last year, but failed at FC Liefering .
The second relegation duel was played by the champions of the Regionalliga Ost, Floridsdorfer AC , and the champions of the Regionalliga West, SV Austria Salzburg , which was founded in 2005 .
The first leg took place on June 2, 2014 in the Heidebodenstadion in Parndorf and in the then Leopold-Stroh-Stadion in Vienna . The second leg was played on June 5, 2014 in the Linz stadium and in the Salzburg ASKÖ Salzburg West sports center .
