René Gartler (born October 21, 1985 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

Gartler began his career in the youth of SK Rapid Vienna . In 2005 he came to the first team of the Green-Whites, but did not get past three appearances in the Bundesliga . Rapid then loaned him to Kapfenberger SV in the first division in 2005 . After the loan period ended, he was promptly awarded to SKN St. Pölten in the Regionalliga Ost. He stayed in St. Pölten for a year and returned to Vienna before the 2006/07 season. He stayed in the federal capital for a year, but could not assert himself in the team of the record champions and did not play a single Bundesliga game. In the following season, Rene Gartler also played on loan in Vorarlberg at FC Lustenau 07 , where the striker impressed and was the top scorer in the first division with 21 goals.

2008/09 Gartler came back from Lustenau and played again for his parent club Rapid Vienna. At the beginning of the season, Gartler injured during a friendly match against Rapids SK St. Andrae at the midfoot . A bone marrow swelling was found in the metatarsus. As a result, he only came to two short appearances in the first half of the season and could not score a goal.

On April 5, 2009 Gartler played for the first time from the start in the SK Rapid Wien combat team. In the match against SK Austria Kärnten the striker tore a cruciate ligament after nine minutes and was out for the rest of the season and only celebrated his comeback in the 2009/10 season and made 19 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, in which he scored three hits. In the 2010/11 season he was then 16 times in the first division and was able to score four goals.

Gartler moved to SV Ried for the 2012/13 season . After two successful seasons with the Upper Austrians, Gartler announced that he would leave SV Ried after the last game of the 2013/14 season. Gartler moved to the second division club SV Sandhausen in the summer of 2014 . After only one season, he returned to Austria in the summer of 2015: he signed a three-year contract with LASK .

With LASK, he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2017. For the 2018/19 season he moved to league rivals SKN St. Pölten. For the Lower Austrians, he played 44 Bundesliga games, in which he scored eleven goals. In January 2020 he moved to the second division club FC Juniors OÖ , the farm team of his ex-club LASK, with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2022.

controversy

Due to nightly escapades in the run-up to Christmas 2008, Gartler and his club colleague at Rapid Andreas Lukse were sentenced to fines, which in Gartler's case amounted to 5,000 euros. Lukse had to pay a sum of 12,000 euros. Furthermore, both received a written warning from the management of their association.

Gartler's father Harald "Harry" was also a professional player and is now (as of October 2013) the sports coordinator for Rapid Amateurs. René's grandfather Leo is the place speaker for the second Rapid team. René Gartler has had a son since December 9, 2010, and his daughter was born in March 2014.
