The championship in the 1st division was contested with 10 teams, each of which met four times during the entire season. Salzburger Austria was able to become Austrian football champions for the first time . As a champion you took part in the qualification for the 1995 Champions League , completed it successfully and thus reached the main round. Vizemeister Austria was allowed to take part in the 1995 European Cup , where the team reached the round of 16 thanks to the cup victory. Rapid as well as FC Tirol Innsbruck, which emerged from FC Wacker Innsbruck, now playing in the regional league, represented Austrian football in the 1995 UEFA Cup ; Sturm reached the sixteenth finals, Rapid made it to the last sixteen. The last place in the championship had to be relegated to the Wiener Sport-Club. For financial reasons, the club even had to be downgraded to the regional league. The place in the 1st division with the Linz ASK replaced by the champions of the 2nd division in the following season.
