Wolfgang "Sali" Feiersinger (born January 30, 1965 in Saalfelden ) is a former Austrian football player and coach .
Career
society
Feiersinger, who used to work as a gendarme in the civilian profession , began his career at 1. Saalfeldner SK . In 1986 he moved to the professional club SV Austria Salzburg and became a regular player. He only experienced a career boost under coach Otto Barić , with whom he won his first club-level title at SV Austria Salzburg . In 1992 and 1993 he was Austrian runner-up with Austria. In 1994 and 1995 Feiersinger finally won the first Austrian championship title with Austria Salzburg and was also the Supercup winner . Internationally, he was successful with the Salzburg team in the 1993/94 UEFA Cup . There they defeated, among others, the Karlsruher SC and Eintracht Frankfurt , in order to finally move into the final. There the team was defeated twice by 0: 1 against Inter Milan .
Feiersinger was a member of the Salzburg championship team in 1996/97 under coach Heribert Weber , but moved to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga after the first four games of the season . He played 57 Bundesliga games for Borussia and was initially a regular player due to an injury to Matthias Sammer . So he represented him for much of the 1996/97 season and only had to make room for him in the Champions League final against Juventus Turin and even watch the game from the stands due to tactical considerations by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld . In the Bundesliga he reached third place with Borussia. At the beginning of the new season, Hitzfeld was turned into sports director and Nevio Scala took over the coaching position. This claimed:

Under the direction of Scala he came to more appearances than before and won the World Cup ; with Borussia he was tenth in the final table. Scala left Dortmund at the end of the season and was replaced by the previous youth coach Michael Skibbe . Feiersinger was used less and less under his leadership and left Borussia after their almost relegation in 2000.
At the beginning of the 2000/01 season , Feiersinger moved to LASK Linz , for whom he scored a goal in 25 games, before returning to Salzburg Austria in autumn 2001. There he was used in 18 games. In 2002 Feiersinger ended his active career as a professional footballer, but still played in the Regionalliga West and Salzburg League for PSV Schwarz-Weiß Salzburg .
National team
Feiersinger's national team career began under coach Josef Hickersberger on August 21, 1990 in an international match against Switzerland in Vienna . He completed 46 games for the Austrian national team as a libero, defender or attacking midfielder and was a participant in the 1998 World Cup in France under coach Herbert Prohaska . On September 5, 1999, he completed his last game for the Austrian national team in the 1-1 European Championship qualifier against Israel in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium .
After the career
From 2006 to the end of May 2008 Feiersinger acted as trainer and supervisor for the U-17 team at the Red Bull Salzburg federal youth center.
In 2009 he and his partner took over the Hochwildalmhütte in Aurach near Kitzbühel , which he runs from the beginning of June to the middle of October every year.
At the Bruno Pezzey memorial tournament on December 11, 2013 in Reutte , the 48-year-old Feiersinger collapsed with ventricular fibrillation ; With the emergency doctors present, he was taken to the Reutte hospital and transferred to Innsbruck the following day.
His daughter Laura is an Austrian national player and plays for 1. FFC Frankfurt . He is not related to Kevin Feiersinger .
