ÖFB Supercup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Supercup was a football competition organized by the Austrian Football Association ( ÖFB) and marked the start of the new Bundesliga season every year in Austrian football, although it was part of the previous game year. The champions and the cup winners were entitled to play . If the master had also won the ÖFB Cup, the opponent was named the cup finalist. The men's competition was held from 1986 to 2004; for women from 2001 to 2004. The women's Supercup game was held every year in the preliminary competition of the Austrian men's cup final. In 2005 the Supercup was not played due to scheduling problems, and in 2006 instead of the cup competition, an all-star game was held between two selection teams from the first and second leagues.

The Supercup was discontinued after it had not been held the previous year. It was replaced by a so-called all-star game between the T-Mobile Bundesliga and the Red Zac-Erste Liga. The best players in the Bundesliga and the First League were selected via the Internet. The two most popular players of a club and the two best coaches in the league were added to the squad of the respective league:
