The Birkenwiese stadium is a football stadium in Dornbirn in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . The Birkenwiese serves in the football stadium as the second league playing 1913 FC Dornbirn as home stadium.

The area of ​​the municipal sports field Birkenwiese was built in 1935, at the same time as the Birkenwiese settlement . During the events of the Gymnaestrada 2007 and the Gymnaestrada 2019 , at which the Birkenwiese stadium was one of the main venues as the location for the opening and closing ceremonies, the stadium's capacity was expanded to 30,000 seats.

After FC Dornbirn rose to the first league in the 2009/10 season , the city council decided unanimously to adapt the existing stadium grounds and convert it to make it suitable for the Bundesliga. In particular, the installation of a new floodlight system was carried out on this train. The entire site lies on the edge of the settlement area and directly on the dam of the Dornbirner Ach , which is used as a recreational area and which flows past to the east.

The Birkenwiese stadium can be reached by private transport via the L 42 Werbenstraße (referred to as Höchsterstraße in the local road network). Alternatively, line 1 of the Dornbirn city bus can be used, as the Birkenwiese stop is right in front of the main stadium entrance. It is about 400 meters on foot from the Schoren train stop of the ÖBB .
