The Gymnaestrada 2019 , also World Gymnaestrada 2019 (officially: 16th World Gymnaestrada 2019 Dornbirn ) took place for the second time from July 7th to 13th, 2019 in Dornbirn , Vorarlberg . Under the motto "Come together. Show your colors!" up to 20,000 athletes from over 60 nations were expected.

The World Gymnaestrada is organized every four years by the FIG (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique). These world tournaments have no competitive character, but have offered athletes from all over the world the opportunity to present themselves and their skills for a week since 1953. The Gymnaestrada was held 15 times in large cities. With the events in 2007 and 2019, Dornbirn , Vorarlberg is the second region alongside Berlin (1975/1995) in which the World Gymnaestrada takes place for the second time.

The motto

The first part of the motto, come together , alludes to the motto of the World Gymnaestrada Dornbirn 2007 ( come together. Be one. ) And reminds of the extremely well received event in 2007. The second motto, show your colors , alludes to the diversity and joy of colors in the global gymnastics community. Events

Venues

The heart of the World Gymnaestrada was the Dornbirn exhibition center . All group performances, the national performances and the FIG Gala took place here. The opening and closing events as well as the Dornbirn Special of the World Gymnaestrada 2019 took place in the Birkenwiese stadium in Dornbirn. The large group performances were held in the Casino Stadium in Bregenz . In addition, outdoor stages were set up in eight different cities and market towns in Vorarlberg. Nation Villages

Around 20 municipalities in Vorarlberg were "nation villages" at the Gymnaestrada. The gymnastics clubs of the Vorarlberg Gymnastics Association acted as organizers and hosts for the most part . Two thirds of the participants were quartered in the schools of the nation villages. Individual national villages were quarters for one or more host nations. The concept of the nation villages was a special feature of the Gymnaestrada 2019, which took place in a region and not in a single large city.
